Our flagship retreat

Deep reflection, with nothing to distract you

A private psilocybin retreat with Inwardbound

For eight years we have guided individuals, couples and small private groups through private psilocybin retreats. They are for people who value privacy, confidentiality and an experience built entirely around them, in their own time and at their own pace.

A psychedelic experience can be profound. What turns it into lasting change is everything around it: careful screening, real preparation, skilled facilitation and integration that continues after you return home. On a private retreat, all of that is dedicated to you.

There is no group to fit into and no timetable set by anyone else. We combine psychotherapy, psychedelic research and nature-based traditions, and adapt every part of the retreat to what you need.

Guests choose a private retreat for

  • Complete privacy and discretion
  • One-to-one attention
  • Journeying with a partner or friends
  • Dates that fit a demanding schedule
  • A first experience, held gently
  • Going deeper after a previous retreat

The private difference

Everything shaped around you, nothing left to chance

Complete confidentiality

Many of our guests value their privacy above all. Your retreat is shared only with the people you choose, and everything you tell us is kept confidential from your first call onwards.

Two facilitators, dedicated to you

One of them is always a psychotherapist or psychologist. Their full attention is yours for the whole retreat, and you can tell us your preferences, such as two female facilitators.

Built around your intentions

Your intentions shape the practices, the pace, the music, the meals and the dose. On the four-day retreat, the second ceremony lets us tailor the dose further.

Your dates, your setting

We agree dates that suit you, then choose the private venue that best fits your needs, in the Dutch countryside or in Costa Rica.

Screened and safe

Medical and psychological screening by our team, a one-to-one consultation with a psychotherapist, and a medical doctor on call throughout your retreat.

Every detail handled

Private transfers, accommodation and meals prepared to your taste, so your attention can rest entirely on your inner journey.

Choose your retreat

Two private retreats. The difference is depth.

Both are fully private and include your transfers, accommodation, all meals and the complete preparation and integration programme. We’ll help you choose on your call.

Private or group?

A group retreat offers the support of a circle: shared intentions, connection with people on a similar path, and insight from hearing others’ journeys.

Our standards

Questions worth asking any retreat, and how we answer them

At this level, you should expect clear answers. These are the things we believe matter most, and what you can expect from us.

How private is it?
Completely. We never add other guests to a private retreat: it is shared only with the people you book with. Everything you share during screening, on calls and on the retreat is kept confidential.
Who screens me, and how?
Every applicant completes a medical and psychological screening, reviewed by our screening team, and has a one-to-one consultation with one of our psychotherapists. We recommend getting the all-clear from your own GP, and for more complex medical cases we consult Spirit Pharmacist, specialists in psychedelics and medication.
Who will be with me?
Two experienced facilitators, one of them always a psychotherapist or psychologist, drawn from our senior team and matched to you and your intentions.
What if I need medical help?
A medical doctor is on call throughout every retreat, and your facilitators are with you through every ceremony and the hours that follow.
What happens before and after?
Two preparation sessions and two integration sessions, each including a one-to-one consultation with a psychotherapist, with workbooks and videos throughout. Monthly integration sessions and extra one-to-one sessions are available if you’d like more support.
How is the dose decided?
With you. Doses range from light to high depending on your needs and intentions; a high dose is around 25 mg of psilocybin, similar to doses used in clinical research. On the four-day retreat, whether you take the second ceremony is always your choice.
Is it legal?
In the Netherlands, psilocybin truffles are legal. We never sell psilocybin: you buy your truffles yourself from a registered Dutch store, and we arrange this for you.

The settings

Private venues, chosen for you

The Netherlands. A small collection of private houses in the Dutch countryside, within easy reach of Amsterdam: from a characterful farmhouse with a wood stove, oak beams and quiet attic bedrooms, to a modern villa by the water with a barrel sauna. Once your dates are agreed, we choose the house that suits you best, and it is yours alone for the retreat.

Costa Rica. Private villas surrounded by rainforest and close to the Pacific, with your own room and time by the ocean. Arriving from Europe in winter, you trade grey skies for the tropics. Ask us about dates and what can be added to your stay.

Safety and the law

Legal, careful and honest

Psilocybin truffles are legal to buy and use in the Netherlands, unlike dried psilocybin mushrooms, which have been banned since 2008. For legal reasons we never sell psilocybin: you buy your truffles yourself from a registered store, and we arrange this for you.

Psilocybin has low physical toxicity and is not considered addictive. Its risks are mainly psychological, which is why we screen every applicant, prepare you carefully, and stay beside you through each ceremony and afterwards.

No medical claims

We don’t make medical or therapeutic claims. Experiences vary from person to person, and a retreat is not a substitute for medical or psychological treatment.

When a retreat isn’t right for you

For your safety, we can’t accept you on a retreat if you:

  • Have a diagnosis of psychosis, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, clinical depression or a personality disorder
  • Have a personal or family history of psychosis
  • Take psychiatric medication, including SSRIs, and can’t safely stop it with your doctor’s guidance
  • Are experiencing suicidal thoughts
  • Are dealing with serious addiction or substance misuse
  • Are in a very vulnerable emotional state, or experiencing severe anxiety, stress or burnout

If you’re unsure, book a call. We’ll tell you honestly whether a retreat is right for you now.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Anything else, in confidence? Book a private call or email [email protected]. You can also read our methods and full FAQ.

Is my retreat completely private and confidential?

Yes. We are used to working with guests who value their privacy, and discretion is assured. We never add other guests to a private retreat, and everything you share with our team is kept confidential.

Can I come with my partner or friends?

Yes. You can book alone, as two, or as a small group of people you know, and the price per person falls as your group grows. Each guest completes their own screening and consultation.

Who will my facilitators be?

Two experienced facilitators from our senior team, one of them always a psychotherapist or psychologist. Tell us your preferences when you book; for example, two female facilitators is absolutely possible.

What dates can I book?

We have availability through 2026 and 2027. Tell us the dates you have in mind and we’ll do our best to accommodate you. Your dates are confirmed once your screening is approved.

Where do we meet, and where is the venue?

In the Netherlands, we collect you from your hotel, central Amsterdam or Schiphol airport, and bring you back by 14:00 on the last day. Our venues are in the countryside, within easy reach of Amsterdam.

Can I have a private retreat in Costa Rica?

Yes. Private retreats in Costa Rica take place in villas close to the Pacific. Ask us for dates and prices on your call or by email.

Who checks that I’m medically suitable?

Our screening team reviews your medical and psychological screening, and you have a one-to-one consultation with one of our psychotherapists. We recommend getting the all-clear from your own GP, and for more complex medical cases we consult Spirit Pharmacist, specialists in psychedelics and medication. A medical doctor is also on call throughout every retreat.

What dose will I take, and do I have to take both?

We agree your dose with you, from light to high depending on your needs, and discuss it with you during your consultation. On the four-day retreat the second ceremony can be a higher dose if it suits you, but whether you take it is always your choice. Each ceremony lasts around four to seven hours.

Do I need any experience with psychedelics?

No. Many of our private guests come to us for their first psilocybin experience. Your preparation covers what to expect, how to work with whatever arises, and how to set your intentions.

What isn’t included?

Flights and travel to Amsterdam or Costa Rica, monthly integration sessions, and the psilocybin truffles, which you buy separately for legal reasons (allow about €75 per person).

Should I take time off afterwards?

It isn’t essential, but we suggest taking as much time as you can to rest and let the experience settle.
